Estado de los Estados Unidos de América

Un estado de los Estados Unidos es uno de los 50 miembros de la federación denominada Estados Unidos de América. Los gobiernos de los estados y el gobierno federal comparten soberanía, así, un ciudadano estadounidense es un ciudadano tanto de la entidad federal como del estado donde tiene su residencia. Sin embargo, la ciudadania de un estado es bastante flexible, y no se requiere de ninguna aprobacion del gobierno para moverse de un Estado a otro (con la excepción de los convictos con restricciones de desplazamianto, como los sujetos a libertad condicional).
