</TD></TR> </TABLE> El carmesí es un color rojo profundo, fuerte, combinado con algo de azul, lo que da como resultado un tono ligeramente púrpura.

Se trata del color cuyo tinte se obtenía utilizando los cuerpos secos del insecto Kermes vermilio, que habita en los arbustos Quercus coccifera, y que se comercializaba en los países mediterraneos. De ahí su nombre, del Latín Medieval kermesinus o carmesinus.

Carmesí es el color tradicional de Castilla.
